Itinerary

Day 1ANCHORAGE

Welcome to the metropolitan city of Anchorage, Alaska! A John Hall’s Alaska representative greets all guests on arrival, transferring to the luxury accommodations for the evening. Anchorage has much to offer for those who wish to explore. Dinner is at leisure.

Day 2GLENN HIGHWAY & VALDEZ

After breakfast, board a luxury motorcoach for a drive along the Glenn Highway National Scenic Byway. Following a path carved by ancient glaciers, keep cameras at hand – there is beauty everywhere. Enjoy lunch enroute before arriving in Valdez, the “Little Switzerland” of Alaska and home for the next two evenings.

Day 3PRINCE WILLIAM SOUND

Join the Stan Stephens family and their fleet of vessels on an escorted adventure into striking Columbia Bay. Surrounded by towering blue ice, it’s a photographer’s dream, watch for sightings of whales, sea otters, harbor seals, eagles, and seabirds. Return to Valdez for dinner and time to explore the town at leisure.

Day 4WRANGELL-ST. ELIAS NATIONAL PARK & FAIRBANKS

After breakfast, explore America’s largest national park! The luxury motorcoach is perfect for relaxing and taking in the views. Rushing waterfalls cradled between sheer black cliffs, a picture stop, and a dramatic ascent to the top of Thompson Pass precedes a visit to the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park Visitor Center. Afterward, continue to Fairbanks. Sleep well tonight, the next few days are packed with culture, history, wilderness, and puppies.

Day 5FAIRBANKS

Begin today aboard the Riverboat Discovery on a three-hour narrated tour on the Chena River. Learn about Alaska Natives’ ability to live off the land and cope with the extremes of Mother Nature at an authentic Athabascan village. Visit Trail Breaker Kennel – home of the late four-time Iditarod champion Susan Butcher – for an exclusive look at kennel life and a dog mushing demonstration. Then stop at Fountainhead Antique Auto Museum before a savory salmon bake and entertaining revue at the Palace Theatre.

Day 6ALASKA RAILROAD & DENALI NATIONAL PARK

Board the glass-domed cars of the Alaska Railroad and experience luxury GoldStar service with breakfast served on board during the journey to Denali National Park. Upon arrival, enjoy lunch and time at the Denali Visitor Center. Over the next two evenings, relax at Denali Cabins.

Day 7DENALI NATIONAL PARK & PRESERVE

Rise with the sun this morning, departing early on the 42-mile bus ride deep into Denali National Park.  During the drive be on the lookout for moose, caribou, Dall sheep, wolves, grizzly bears, and of course the mountains. After returning to the gates of the park, enjoy dinner at leisure this evening.

Day 8DENALI NATIONAL PARK & TALKEETNA

From sunup to sundown, it is a day of spectacular scenery! This morning includes the opportunity to enhance the experience in Denali National Park with an add on optional activity. After lunch, journey south to Talkeetna and settle into accommodations situated on the south side of Denali National Park.

Day 9TURNAGAIN ARM & ANCHORAGE

Start with breakfast before continuing south to Anchorage. Before lunch, visit The Iditarod Headquarters.  In Anchorage, enjoy lunch and a trip down Turnagain Arm to see some of the most beautiful sights in all of Alaska before returning to Anchorage. Settle in for the evening at the Hotel Captain Cook and enjoy a farewell dinner with traveling companions.

A deposit of $500.00 USD per person is required within ten days of booking your reservation. Deposits are fully refundable up until 90 days prior to departure.

Alaska Specialists are available for tour bookings 8:00am-5:00pm M-F and 8am-4pm on Saturday.

FULL TERMS & CONDITIONS

ARRANGING YOUR FLIGHTS

This tour begins and ends in Anchorage, Alaska. On Day 1, flights should arrive by 6pm; early check-in cannot be guaranteed before 4pm. On Day 10, flights may depart Anchorage after 8am.

CELEBRITY CRUISES POST-TOUR: If adding Celebrity Cruises Inside Passage to a John Hall’s Alaska land tour, flights may depart Vancouver after 12pm or Seattle after 5pm. Transportation to the Seward cruise pier and either airport will be provided in package.

ADMIRALTY DREAM POST-TOUR: If adding Admiralty Dream to a John Hall’s Alaska land tour, your flight from Anchorage to Juneau is included in your package price. Flights may depart Sitka after 12pm on the last day. Transportation to the airport will be provided based on flight departure times.
